Event Description:
CFA Society of Seattle is organizing the inaugural Pacific Northwest Investment Research Challenge (PNIRC) that will culminate on Friday February 5, 2010 with a final competition event. In the past three months seven student teams from area universities have been working on a sell-side equity coverage initiation report for Fisher Communications, Inc. They visited the company and talked to the CEO and the CFO. Each team received guidance from an industry mentor and a faculty advisor. Four top teams out of the seven will compete on February 5, where the teams will be presenting their work in front of an expert panel. The panel will question the teams and will select the local winner of the competition. The winner of the PNIRC will represent the Pacific Northwest at the Global Investment Research Challenge - Americas Region in March, with an opportunity to advance to the global finale in Hong Kong.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

12:30 pm - 1:15 pm: Participants arrive, get seated, and lunch
1:15 pm - 1:30 pm: Welcome/introductions
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm: Four teams make presentations (20 minutes each)
3:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Judges deliberate, participants mingle/socialize, results announced, closing.

Other Information:
The names/bios of the final judge panel and the four finalist teams will be announced on January 27, 2010 at the PNIRC website (http://pnirc.org).
