Event Description:
According to a new report by the Pew Center on the States, a $1 trillion gap exists between what states have promised public employees in pension and retiree healthcare benefits and the assets they have on hand to pay for them. What's the state of our state's public pension systems? What's the outlook for these systems in light of significant state and local government revenue shortfalls? What changes might we see in the future? Matt Smith, State Actuary for the State of Washington, will address these questions and more at the March meeting of the WP&BC.
